Well, I was going to write something about Granado Espada (an MMORPG I started last Friday) today, but I still need some time to consolidate all my screenshots. The freaking thing takes screenshots as BMP files, and they’re 5 MB in size each!!
.

So, for today, it’ll just have to be a stock market joke I got in a forwarded email. xP
.

Updated Wallpaper of the week:
The 1000th Summer, from Air (Anime)

.

This is the Stock Market!

.

Once upon a time in a village, a man appeared and announced to the villagers that he would buy monkeys for $10.
.

The villagers seeing that there were many monkeys around, went out to the forest and started catching them.
.

The man bought thousands at $10 and as supply started to diminish, the villagers stopped their effort. He further announced that he would now buy at $20. This renewed the efforts of the villagers and they started catching monkeys again.

Soon the supply diminished even further and people started going back to their farms. The offer rate increased to $25 and the supply of monkeys became so little that it was an effort to even see a monkey, let alone catch it!
.

The man now announced that he would buy monkeys at $50! However, since he had to go to the city on some business, his assistant would now buy on behalf of him.
.

In the absence of the man, the assistant told the villagers, “Look at all these monkeys in the big cage that the man has collected. I will sell them to you at $35 and when the man returns from the city, you can sell them to him for $50.”
.

The villagers squeezed up with all their savings and bought all the monkeys.
.

Then they never saw the man nor his assistant again, only monkeys everywhere.
.

Welcome to the Stock Market!!!!!

.

This joke is ridiculous, I tell you… I pity the villagers. xD

Double post today! Though I’ve been editing this particular entry for a while. o_o

All right, some of you may have some difficulties picking up HTML (your coding language for web pages) yet still want to play with text widgets. But no worries, there’s a simple tip here so you won’t have to fiddle with HTML too much with text widgets!

.

The tip:
Use your “Write Post” feature to help generate the HTML codes you need for your text widget!

.

A step-by-step guide:

  1. First, go to “Write Post” or “Write Page”, whichever you prefer.
    .
  2. Click the “Visual” tag, if it isn’t already in that mode.
    .
  3. Use it to type anything that you want in your text widget (links, pictures, etc), as you would with your posts/pages.
    .
  4. Click the “HTML” tag, so that you can see the HTML coding of what you’ve written.
    .
  5. Copy the whole HTML coding and paste it into your text widget.
    .
  6. Don’t forget to click “Change” and “Save” to save your changes!
    .
  7. Voila! Your very own custom-edited text widget!

The only problem I see with this method is that… well… you’d get an extra draft post/page in your Manage section, because of the autosave feature. xP
.

It may be a simple trick, but hopefully it’ll help you WordPress bloggers out there. =D

Of course, this isn’t a brand new idea… but I saw one person do it, so I figured, why not? xP
.

If you’re wondering what I’m talking about, I’ll explain it: I’ll start a section in my sidebar (—-> that thing at the side) called Wallpaper of the Week, which, as its title implies, will feature one of the wallpapers I downloaded this week. And I often download wallpapers, because my comp’s wallpaper changes to another random one every hour.
.

Sounds like a good place to download new wallpapers? =D
.

My taste in wallpaper pictures are pretty simple: no extravagant designs, just moderately simple designs, mostly pastel or cold colours. And, the theme is either manga/anime/game (about 90% of the time) or animals/scenery (about 10% of the time).
.

And this week I started with Lenneth Valkyrie from Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth!
.

The Wallpaper of the Week will be updated every weekend, if I can manage. o_o

According to Dictionary.com, a mythology is “a body of myths, as that of a particular people or that relating to a particular person“.
.

Mythology is interesting, and I’m sure you’ve heard of some before. Even now, there are a lot of stories (either short stories or novels or otherwise) and movies/cartoons that use mythology as their plot. For example:
.

  • In movies such as Disney’s Hercules, which is based on Greek mythology.
    .
  • In computer games such as Age of Mythology (even the name has it xP).
    .
  • In video games such as Okami (PS2, which has all kinds of stories relating to Japanese mythology).
    .
  • In Japanese manga/anime such as Spirited Away and Inuyasha (seriously!).
    .

And, of course, our topic today: Valkyrie Profile, which is based on Norse mythology!
.

Valkyrie Profile was originally a game on the PSX, first released in 1999 (Japan), and later a manga adaption with the same name was released (no idea when O_o).
.

Here’s a short (self-written) summary of the storyline:

Ragnarok, the end of the world, is approaching. Odin, the king of the gods, sent Lenneth Valkyrie, the Battle Maiden, to the land of mortals to collect the souls of human warriors to fight for the gods. All seems to be fine, until Lenneth meets a man who stirs unknown memories inside her, which leads to a series of unpredicted events. And the land of the gods is not as peaceful as it seems, for a plotted betrayal lies within.
.

Or something like that. xP
.

Valkyrie Profile’s story in both the game and manga are about the same, though because the manga only has 12 chapters, I find that the story is a little rushed. =(
